Shared on Behalf of The Broads Authority:
We are delighted to have received funding from the Greater Norwich Growth Board for Wherryman’s Way improvements, working with our partner, Norfolk County Council.
Of a total programme value of £445,148, £216,500 was allocated to fund key access assets, such as replacement bridges on the path alongside Hardley Flood.
Preliminary works completed to date includes, resurfacing along the section that skirts around Rockland Broad to create an ‘access for all’ path; placing dredged sediment to build up the riverbank at Hardley Flood; and new signage installed throughout the route between Norwich and Great Yarmouth.
The remaining phases of work includes:
Riverbank stabilisation and repairs between Bramerton and Surlingham (starting summer 2023)
Levelling the riverbank path at Hardley Flood (spring 2023)
Footbridge installation at Hardley Flood (starting summer 2023)
Repairs to Hardley bird hide
Once these works are all complete, the Wherryman’s Way route will be able to run alongside the river again in these popular walking locations.
