WhatsApp scam in Norfolk

Police are warning the public to be vigilant following reports of a series of attempted WhatsApp scams.


There have been four unsuccessful incidents across Norfolk over the last two months, including one which occurred in Wymondham.


The most recent incident took place on 14 July 2023 in Norwich where the victim received text and video messages of a violent and threatening nature, intending to blackmail the victim into sending across money to the fraudsters.


Please consider sharing with friends, family or those that are vulnerable to increase awareness of the scam and report any incidents to Norfolk Police on 101.
