Loddon Parish Council is seeking to appoint a competent and experienced Parish Warden to assist with the day-to-day tasks of ensuring the land, property and facilities in the ownership or control of the Council are maintained to a high standard and are kept clean and safe, in line with the Parish Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
You will be the parish handyperson, undertaking minor repairs and redecoration to parish buildings, and assisting the grounds maintenance contractor with hedge cutting, grass cutting, watering, strimming, weeding/weed killing, sweeping, removal of graffiti and planting on Council or adopted land.
You will be responsible for the weekly play area inspections, skate park and tennis court inspections and ensuring the public open spaces, such as the allotments are maintained. Other duties will include litter picking the Old Hockey Field, Playing Field and Recycling area and ensuring parish assets such as notice boards, litter bins, dog litter bins, grit bins and bus shelters are kept in good condition.
You will also be responsible for undertaking regular Health and Safety building inspections and testing and ensuring that the Council is adhering to all Health and Safety legislation. The role will also entail obtaining quotes and managing contractors for repairs to assets and facilities, outside the skillset of the applicant (i.e. Plumbing, electrical and other specialist trades).
This is a varied and interesting role and will require the right person to work alone, undertaking physically demanding work when required. A ‘can do’ attitude, good time management and a range of practical skills will be necessary. The work will be mainly outdoors, throughout the year in all weather conditions. A full clean UK driver’s license and access to and use of a full insured vehicle will be required.
The post is for 16 hours a week to be worked over four days (to be worked flexibly) and is based in the Parish Council Offices in Church Plain, Loddon, although work sites will be throughout the parish. Salary is £9.27 per hour, £17,842.00 pro rata. This position offers the Local Government Pension Scheme and the standard employment terms and conditions agreed nationally for the sector.
