Age UK Norfolk launches winter campaign to help older people stay warm, well and connected
Annual winter campaign returns with practical advice, financial support and a community challenge to help older people across Norfolk.
Age UK Norfolk is encouraging people across the county to prepare for the colder months as its annual Temperature Check Your Winter campaign returns for winter 2026–27.
Running from November to February, the campaign will share practical advice, highlight support available to older people and encourage communities to come together to help everyone stay warm, well and connected throughout winter.
The Charity is reminding older people that support is available if they are worried about keeping their home warm, managing their finances or feeling isolated. Age UK Norfolk can provide advice on keeping warm, help people find out about winter grants and other financial support, and offer welfare benefits checks to identify benefits they may be entitled to. Its Money MOT service provides further help with managing finances.
The Charity also offers digital inclusion and companionship services to help older people stay connected. Throughout winter, its teams will also be visiting communities across Norfolk to share information and help people find the support they need. Details will be available on the Charity’s website and social media channels.
This year's campaign features the “Who's your winter check-in?” Community Challenge, inviting everyone to think of one person they could check in on over the coming months. Whether it's calling a relative, visiting a neighbour, sharing a coffee or helping someone find support, a small gesture can make a real difference.
Ann Donkin, Chief Executive of Age UK Norfolk, said:
“Everyone deserves to feel safe, supported and connected, whatever their circumstances. For some older people, winter can make everyday challenges feel that little bit harder, and knowing where to turn for help can make a real difference.
“As a local charity, we want to make sure people know we're here for them, while encouraging communities to recognise the difference they can make to one another. You don't need to do something extraordinary to help someone feel less alone. Sometimes, simply taking the time to ask how someone is doing is a good place to start.”
