Road Closure Notice

Sharing on behalf of Norfolk County Council:


Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO10852) affecting the A143 Yarmouth Road from its junction with A146/A143 Norwich Road to its junction with C391 Stockton Road (“Road A”) and A146/A143 Norwich Road from its junction with A143 Yarmouth Road for 200m both northwards and southwards (“Road B”) in the Parish of Stockton to facilitate resurfacing carriageway works by Norfolk County Council, the Road A will be temporarily closed and Road B will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 24th to 26th June 2024 only whilst signs indicating closure and speed restriction are in place, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 7th August 2024 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.


Alternative route is via: A146 Norwich Road, Beccles Road, Loddon Bypass, Loddon Road, B1332 Bungay Road, The Street, Norwich Road A143 Broome Bypass, Yarmouth Road (Stockton, Framingham Pigot, Poringland, Kirstead, Ellingham, Framingham Earl, Ditchingham, Chedgrave, Kirby Bedon, Brooke, Yelverton, Broome, Hellington, Hales, Woodton, Ashby St. Mary, Loddon, Sisland, Thurton, Caistor St. Edmund and Bixley, Kirby Cane, Holverston, Hedenham)


Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road A where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.

The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works/when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 7th August 2024 without further notice.

If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the restriction/closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.


Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.


In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.
