2022, Roundabout Update

Letter from Walker Construction.
George Lane / A146 – Roundabout Works, Loddon

02 March 2022

To Whom it May Concern,

George Lane / A146 – Roundabout Works, Loddon

Firstly, thank you for your ongoing patience during the construction works.

Works to provide the new roundabout along the A146 at the junction of George Lane / Mundham Road in Loddon are progressing well and Walker Construction remains on programme.

We thought it prudent to provide an update on progress as we move towards the final stages of the works.

Walker Construction is currently 26 weeks through a 35-week overall programme, with the main roundabout works complete.

As previously advised, the works have been undertaken in stages to help minimise disruption and keep traffic flowing on the A146.

To complete the roundabout, allow all traffic management to be removed and all roads to be fully reopened, the final road surface needs to be laid and road markings applied.

It has been decided that these works will be completed over two weekends when traffic flows are reduced and disruption can be kept to a minimum. Currently these works are planned to take place over the weekends of 18th/21th March 2022 and 25th/29th March 2022, although this is subject to weather. George Lane, Mundham Road and the A146 from Hales roundabout to Chedgrave turn-off in both directions will be closed from 8pm Friday 18th March 2022 until 5am Monday 21st March 2022, with work taking place 24hrs. These locations will be manned 24hrs a day to prevent vehicles

entering the designated works area. Traffic on the A146 from Beccles will be diverted via the A143, A140 and A47, while traffic from Norwich will follow the route in reverse. The diversion route will be fully signed throughout. Where possible, we intend to carry out the noisier works first, to minimise disruption to those living close to the roundabout.

Walker Construction thanks all parties for their continued patience and cooperation while the junction improvement works are carried out.
