George Lane / A146 – Roundabout Works, Loddon
Firstly, thank you for your patience during the construction works.
Works to provide the new roundabout along the A146 at the junction of George Lane / Mundham Road in Loddon are progressing well and Walker Construction remain on programme.
We thought it prudent to provide an update on general progress and the change in works operations / traffic management with the festive period approaching.
Currently Walker Construction are 13 weeks through the 35-week overall programme, with the
“off-line” element reaching conclusion.
As previously advised, the works are being undertaken in stages to help minimise disruption, with an update on the closures further detailed below.
Traffic Management – Phase 1:
From Friday 10 December 2021: George Lane will reopen, and a temporary roundabout will be in place for free movement over the Christmas period. The diversion route and one-way system will be removed. The 30mph speed limit will remain in place.
Traffic Management – Phase 2:
From Monday 13 December 2021 – Friday 17 December 2021: Off-peak Two-way traffic signals will be provided on the A146 to undertake drainage and signage works outside of the main work area.
From Saturday 18 December 2021: Unrestricted access will be provided from George Lane, Mundham Road and the A146 via the temporary roundabout. The 30mph speed limit will remain in place.
Traffic Management – Phase 3:
From Thursday 6 January 2022: George Lane and Mundham Road will be closed at the junction with the A146 for 10 weeks. This is required to construct the Western element of the new roundabout, together with the junction realignment. A fully signed official diversion route will be in place.
Throughout this duration, the traffic along the A146 will use the newly formed roundabout to travel North and South. Traffic will be controlled using 2-way traffic lights, 24hrs a day.
Access to properties will be maintained at all times via the diversion routes.

Throughout the works Walker Construction have always planned to provide traffic flow along the A146, which remains.
Please note further communications will be released on a regular basis to inform of upcoming closures or planned works for the future phases in due course.
