2024
We are very saddened to announce that Councillor Colin Binfield passed away peacefully at his home on the 24 July 2024.
Colin and his wife Sharon have loved living in Loddon for 39 years, and he was passionate about ensuring that Loddon remained a special place to live.
Colin was the Vice-Chairman and played a key role on the Council, its Committees and activities.
Colin’s personality and presence will be sorely missed, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
"Colin's dedication, enthusiasm and good humour will be sadly missed across our community.
I will especially feel his loss in his role as vice chair of the town council and as a friend."
Cllr Andy Woodman, Chairman of Loddon Town Council
"Such sad news. Colin was a gentleman and a true pillar of the community, he will be greatly missed."
Cllr Kay Mason Billig
"Since joining LTC Colin has simply just always been there, at every meeting and event. A safe pair of hands with a ready smile and that twinkle in his eye. A lovelier man you couldn’t wish to meet, and I’ll miss him greatly."
Cllr Julie Appleby
"Such sad news, he was such a lovely man, everytime I saw him when I used to go out, he'd always be smiling and we'd have a laugh when he'd see my on the scooter. Such a beautiful soul. He'll be missed by many that knew him. My love and thoughts go out to his family and those that knew him the closest."
Cllr Sam Bailey
"When we had our fete in July, and it became apparent things weren't going to go as planned, I was suddenly aware Colin was there helping out. I asked him what he was doing there as I thought he wasn't planning on coming back until later. His response "I wasn't going to, but I thought you might need me." Of course, we did need him and, as ever, there was Colin.
I shall miss him enormously - a raised eyebrow or an eye roll across the table in a meeting, where we knew we'd had the same thought, impromptu Monday mornings decorating in the Jubilee Hall, a glass of red to get through a trustee meeting, his total technophobia and always there for a joke. Colin Binfield was the best of men and it was an honour to know him."
Cllr Liz Marsham
Such sad news; thoughts with his family and those that knew him well, what a terrible shock. He had such a dry, wonderful sense of humour, and utter dedication to his various roles."
Cllr Natalie Henry
